Why study at Berlitz Oxford
Set in a 300-year old building in the very heart of the city, with good access to all the university colleges, museums, shops, restaurants and public transport, Berlitz Oxford is a great place to learn English. As well as our very friendly and welcoming administrative staff, at Berlitz Oxford we also have:
- an excellent team of qualified, professional instructors with a large variety of backgrounds, experience and specializations who understand how to meet the needs of our students, are excellent teachers and the best givers of advice
- good resources and facilities in the Centre: we combine a charming, traditional Oxford building with everything we need to teach well in the classrooms (flat-screen TVs, iPads, etc) and for our students to be comfortable outside them too (we have a communal kitchen with free tea, coffee and an endless supply of biscuits available, plus there’s a Student Room for relaxing). Our teaching resources are substantial and meet all our students’ needs, from General or Business English to specializations such as Legal or Financial English
- an extremely high level of quality and student monitoring: all our students are level-checked and their needs and objectives are agreed on their arrival. We also have weekly instructor meetings to discuss all our students’ progress and programmes, have many opportunities for our students to give us feedback (with questionnaires and meetings with our Centre Director), and give our students comments on their progress throughout their course and a detailed end-course report with advice for future learning, as well as a certificate for them to take away with them
Most weeks the staff and students go out together to a local historic pub to chat and, if people want to, to sample some real English ale and pub food. The students really enjoy this opportunity to join a traditional night out and to practise the English they have been learning in the classroom, while getting to know the other students and the staff better.
We are very happy to take our students to visit places of interest in and around Oxford. This year we have taken our students to the museums, university colleges, the cinema, to play golf, punting on the river, to the BMW/Mini plant, and shopping for souvenirs, as well as on one-day trips to London, Stratford, Bristol, Manchester and the Cotswolds. If you would like a trip to be included in your programme, please let us know either by email before you arrive for your course or, alternatively, once you are here with us in Oxford. We want you to make the absolute most of your stay and it is never too much trouble for us to organise interesting things for you to do in our beautiful and fascinating city.
